Enduro is now well established as its own segment of the sport, so it’s no surprise that an increasing number of manufacturers are bringing their own enduro-specific parts and products to the party. Step forward MET who’ve released an updated version of their Parachute which they claim to be the lightest and best ventilated full-facer on the market.
The Met Parachute will be released in April 2014 and available from Chain Reaction Cycles soon after. Until then, here's the info you need to know.
Unlike the old model, which was essentially a trail helmet with a removable chin guard, the refreshed Parachute uses a monocoque design with a fully integrated chin guard, offering heaps of ventilation. It’s packed with MET’s own Safe-T Smart 2 safety features should the inevitable happen.
These features include:
• Occipital retention system to aid stability and keep the Parachute firmly on your head
• A rear dial with an easy one-hand adjustment mechanism
• Vertical adjustment system for precise tuning
• Broader and lighter contact area for increased comfort
As well as your safety when riding, the next thing to consider is your comfort – and the Parachute takes advantage of MET’s own GEL O2 front pad which unlike traditional cloth pads adapts to your body shape and channels your sweat to the sides of your face. It’s hypo-allergenic, anti-bacterial, hand washable and keeps your head cool when the going gets hot!
Another neat little touch is a removable helmet cam mount, which is compatible with the likes of GoPro and allows you to fit your camera in a matter of seconds.
There'll be four colour choices - blue, orange, red and white - and we'll let you know as soon as they're available. What do you think of the new-look Parachute?
